Description
Arabica Gesha truly deserves its spot at the top of the global coffee world! Our Gesha was grown on the Finca Jerusalén farm–in the pristine Honduran jungle where coffee and nature are approached with respect and love. It’s cultivated in the wild among forest trees, palms, banana plants, citrus trees, and a plethora of greenery. This lush environment imparts a unique character to our coffee.
After harvesting, the coffee cherries are sorted and submerged in water. Healthy cherries sink to the bottom, while the defective ones and impurities float to the surface for easy removal.
Using a depulper (wet mill), the skin and pulp are removed. What remains is “parchment coffee,” covered in a layer of mucilage (slime). The parchment coffee is placed in fermentation tanks for 12 to 48 hours to break down the mucilage layer. After fermentation, the coffee is thoroughly washed with clean water to remove any remaining mucilage. It is then sun-dried for up to several weeks until it reaches a moisture level of about 10-12%.
With a score of 92 out of 100 points from experts at the Specialty Coffee Association, Gesha Washed is ranked among the most exceptional coffees in the world.
The coffee is not chemically treated, and no pesticides or other unnatural substances were used in its production.
