The most popular beans for filterMARAGOGYPE ANAEROBIC NATURAL is saying goodbye...
Last chance to taste Maragogype!
Here it is – we’ve just opened the last sack of our rare Maragogype at the roastery. And once it’s gone, it’ll be a long time before you taste it at Ebel Coffee again. This coffee gem is slowly disappearing from our selection, so if you haven’t had it in your cup yet, now is the time.
And who knows – you might just receive the very last batch!
What is Maragogype and where does it come from?
Maragogype is an Arabica variety that has earned the nickname “elephant bean” – and for good reason! Its beans are much larger than those of regular Arabica, making it easy to recognize at first glance. But don’t worry, it’s not just about size – Maragogype also surprises with its flavor.
Ours comes from a mountain forest, lovingly cultivated by farmer José. He chose a processing method called Anaerobic Natural, which beautifully highlights the sweet fruity notes – just the kind of flavors you’d expect from a tropical paradise full of lush greenery and exotic fruit.

This variety originated as a natural mutation of Typica Arabica near the town of Maragogipe in the Brazilian state of Bahia back in the 19th century. Since then, it has spread to other parts of Central and South America.

A coffee you won’t taste just anywhere
Maragogype is more of a rarity these days – it’s grown only occasionally and in very small quantities. Why? Coffee trees of this variety yield smaller harvests and are more susceptible to diseases, which makes them harder for farmers to cultivate. That’s why Maragogype is becoming something of a rarity – even for us.
Our young Maragogype plants produced just one harvest – and haven’t borne a single cherry since. So when you drink this coffee, you’re tasting not only a unique variety, but also the very first harvest from these trees – a truly virgin harvest.

COFFEE THAT TOOK OUR BREATH AWAY PARAINEMA JAGUAR PRESIDENTIAL
SCA score

Parainema Jaguar Presidential was grown on the Finca Jerusalén farm at an elevation of 1350 meters – lower than where farmer José usually cultivates his coffee.
A single picker collected cherry after cherry as they ripened gradually. Each one received the highest possible level of care we can imagine.
Afterward, the Parainema was processed using the Washed method – washed in crystal-clear mountain spring water.

300 kg of Parainema Jaguar Presidential embarked on its journey to the Czech Republic on August 26, 2024.
The transport took 5 days, and on August 31, we received the coffee and took it directly to the roastery. We had to wait until September 5 for the very first tasting.
COMPLEX AND HIGH-QUALITY FLAVOR PROFILE
The Parainema Jaguar Arabica is characterized by a complex, balanced flavor. All the notes found in its taste complement each other beautifully. Passion fruit and grapefruit highlight the floral and tropical fruity tones, while maple syrup adds a pleasant sweetness to the flavor profile, followed by a full taste of walnuts.
Parainema boasts a very full and smooth body, is syrupy dense, and has an incredibly rich crema.
THE STORY OF ARABICAPARAINEMA
UNIQUE HYBRID VARIETY DEVELOPED IN HONDURAS
Parainema was developed in Honduras as part of the fight against coffee rust. It was designed not only for disease resistance but also to thrive in diverse natural conditions and various altitudes. Its adaptability and strong root system make it a reliable choice for growers, especially in Honduras.
The popularity of Parainema continued to rise. It soon achieved such a high cupping score that it was eligible to enter the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition. With victories in both Honduras and Nicaragua, it secured a place among the best Arabicas in the world in 2017.

GROWING PARAINEMA GIVES MEANING AND HOPE
Parainema is a rising star in the coffee world. Thanks to its resilience, it handles various conditions, and even as the climate changes, it adapts. While other coffee varieties might struggle with adverse weather conditions, Parainema continues to produce beans of the highest quality.
For both farmers and us, it’s a fantastic choice for the future – it tastes great and is also sustainable!
